Test Prep & Youth Sports

Have you noticed what the SAT test prep and youth sports culture have in common? They both have their hands out taking your money with the promise that your kid is going to be a better athlete or achieve a higher test score in order to get into a better college. They do this by forcing parents to compete with one another all while making sports and learning less fun.  Youth sports can be especially expensive with leagues and clubs costing over $5k/yr.  It’s almost a blessing if your kid is not that good because you can take the bulk of that money and invest it in a college 529 plan and create a much bigger “scholarship”.
